The paper used for the illuminated sculptures is handmade from overbeaten Abaca pulp. We can watch the sheets shrink as they dry around the embedded material, creating breathtaking surfaces that interract with the interior light. When lit, the color is golden, warm, comforting. Light travels over the surface evoking universal forms; the breaking of a wave, the spirals of shell, reef, river, smoke and cloud. Each unique piece takes a week to create, dry and assemble. Abaca is the perfect material for our times: natural, renewable, resilent and poetic.
